Exciting Flight Experience with United Airlines: A319 Economy Class Review

Introduction

United Airlines has refreshed its Airbus A319 fleet with the modern "United Next" interior. In this post, I'll share my flight experience from Burbank to Denver in economy class, giving you an overview of the services and amenities on board.

Getting to the Airport

Burbank-Hollywood Airport is conveniently located close to my home, making it extremely easy to travel to and from. Although the airport lacks a lounge and the B terminal is somewhat outdated, arriving just 35 minutes before departure and walking straight onto the plane was a delightful experience. A new terminal is currently under construction, and I always keep an eye on its progress whenever I fly from BUR.

Flight Information

United Airlines flight 1191 departed from Burbank (BUR) to Denver (DEN) on December 4. The flight took off at 9:00 AM and landed in Denver at 12:08 PM, with a flight time of approximately 3 hours and 8 minutes covering a distance of 850 miles.

Economy Class Cabin

Upon boarding, I was greeted by a flight attendant who offered me a sanitizing wipe. The "United Next" interior truly impressed me with its modern design. The Airbus A319 features 114 economy seats arranged in a 3-3 configuration. EconomyPlus seats provide extra legroom, measuring 35 inches compared to the standard 30 inches in economy class.

Space and Amenities

I was seated in the exit row 21D, which offered ample legroom and a fully reclining seat. The entire cabin is equipped with 110-volt power outlets, with two sockets available for every three seats. Unfortunately, my laptop was incompatible with one of the charging ports, but the USB A and C ports on the screen made it easier for me to connect.

In-Flight Entertainment

Wi-Fi access is available for $8 for MileagePlus members (and $10 for non-members). I used my T-Mobile account to enjoy free mobile internet. The screen welcomed me by name and prompted me to log in, indicating that United would track the content I consumed.

Food and Beverages

This flight was not long enough to serve a full meal in economy, but the crew provided drinks and a selection of snacks like stroopwafels, quinoa chocolate, and other light bites. Thanks to my 1K status in the rewards program, I received a complimentary snack box and Illy cold brew coffee. I even brought the snack box home, much to my children's delight.

Restrooms

The Airbus A319 has one restroom at the front for first class and two restrooms at the back for economy. While the space is limited, the restrooms were always clean and well-maintained.

Flight Attendant Service

The flight attendants were very friendly, and I received a warm welcome upon being recognized as a Premier 1K member. Although there was an incident with a passenger smoking in the restroom, the overall service was excellent.

Conclusion

The flight went smoothly and was on time aboard an older aircraft with entirely new interiors. Despite a few minor drawbacks, this experience demonstrated that United Airlines is making efforts to modernize its fleet. If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient domestic flight, United Airlines' economy class on the Airbus A319 is worth considering.

Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

When flying with United Airlines from Vietnam, keep in mind that you'll need visa documentation for both short and long-haul flights. Typically, you can fly from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) to Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO) and connect to domestic flights from there.
