Nestled in the Sonoran Desert just outside Tucson, this resort truly rejuvenates the spirit. Picture golden afternoon sunlight streaming through the mountains, dry and warm air, and an atmosphere of absolute tranquility.

Miraval is part of the Hyatt family, and if you have Hyatt points, this is definitely a place worth investing in for a memorable experience. I booked my stay using a combination of Hyatt points and the Hyatt Privé package, which turned out to be a fantastic choice.

Unlike many other luxury resorts, Miraval isn’t just about lounging by the pool, even though there’s a beautiful pool if you want to relax. Here, you can engage in a variety of activities such as yoga, meditation, desert hiking, sound therapy, equine therapy, fitness classes, and cooking workshops. Some activities are included in your package, while others may require an additional fee.

Your schedule can be packed if you want it to be, but there’s no pressure to constantly be “producing” wellness. I noticed many guests hopping from one class to another, while others simply enjoyed a quiet afternoon reading by the pool.

I visited in February, and although there was some desert rain, it didn’t bother me at all; it added a cozy touch. The scenery is truly unique, with the soft green of cacti, the red earth of rocks, and the endless golden light every afternoon.

One of my favorite experiences was taking a morning walk to watch the sunrise. Witnessing the desert awaken as the first rays of sunlight broke over the mountains was incredibly soul-soothing.

However, at Miraval, while the focus is on healthy eating, the menu is quite diverse and maximizes flavor. Dinner was particularly impressive to me; I never felt restricted in my choices.

There are relaxation areas both indoors and outdoors, a tranquil pool, steam rooms, and an extensive menu of unique treatments inspired by various cultures. Even though I didn’t book any spa services, just using the spa facilities was enough to make me feel relaxed.

Every night before bed, I set aside at least an hour to unwind in the sauna, steam room, cool plunge pool, stargaze, and relax in the hot tub—it was absolutely wonderful.

If you’re looking for a luxury resort with a vibrant nightlife, this might not be the place for you. But if you're seeking a sanctuary to truly disconnect, learn something new, relax, and rejuvenate, Miraval is the perfect choice.
