Overview of the American Express Business Gold Card
I recently had the chance to try out the American Express® Business Gold Card, and I must say, it’s a solid choice for entrepreneurs looking to maximize their earnings. This card features exceptional reward categories that automatically adjust based on your highest spending each billing cycle, along with points that can be transferred through Membership Rewards.
The card is rated ⭐⭐⭐½ and comes with an annual fee of $375. To increase your chances of approval, I recommend having a credit score that is good to excellent.
Pros and Cons of the Amex Business Gold Card
The strength of this card lies in its ability to earn rewards in your top two spending categories each month. Additionally, the transferable points hold significant value. However, it does come with an annual fee and a minimum spending requirement to qualify for the welcome offer.
Pros: Earn rewards in your two highest spending categories each month, and the points can be transferred for high value.
Cons: The annual fee, minimum spending requirement for the welcome offer, and it may not be the best option for businesses with lower expenses.
Welcome Offer
New applicants for the Amex Business Gold card can earn up to 200,000 reward points after spending $15,000 in the first three months. However, this offer may vary, and not everyone may qualify.
According to TPG's evaluation in April 2026, these reward points can be worth up to $4,000, making this a benefit you shouldn’t overlook if you’re a newcomer.

Benefits of the Amex Business Gold Card
While the Amex Business Gold card doesn’t boast luxurious perks like airport lounge access, it still offers significant value. Specifically, the card provides up to $395 in annual credits for eligible purchases.
Among these benefits are flexible credits for spending at FedEx, Grubhub, and office supply stores, along with monthly credits for Walmart+ membership.
Business Utilities
This card also helps you manage your business expenses by allowing you to add up to 99 employee cards. Each employee card carries an annual fee of $95 for the first year and the same for subsequent cards.
You can also designate an employee as an account manager to monitor transactions and add new employees, along with annual spending summary reports.
User Protection
Cardholders benefit from various forms of protection while shopping and traveling. Specifically, you may receive reimbursement for repair or replacement costs for a lost or damaged smartphone, up to $800 per claim.
Additionally, the card offers travel insurance, baggage insurance, and coverage for purchases made within 90 days if the items are lost or damaged.
Exclusive Access
Amex Business Gold cardholders gain access to The Hotel Collection, allowing you to receive a $100 credit for stays of two nights or more. You will also find a variety of attractive Amex offers when using this card.
Conclusion
Overall, the American Express Business Gold Card offers numerous benefits for businesses with its high earning potential and ease of expense management. However, it’s essential to weigh the annual fee and welcome offer to determine if this card aligns with your needs.
