Niagara Falls: The Ultimate Family Experience - Don't Miss Out!

When I started planning our trip to Niagara Falls, I was pleasantly surprised to find so many exciting activities for kids. We spent three days there, and I quickly realized we should have planned for five, as there was still so much left to explore. Our days were packed from 10 AM to 9 PM, making sure we returned to our hotel room just in time to catch the stunning summer fireworks display. At that time, my little ones were quite young, around four and a half and nearly three years old, so we kept our schedule flexible.

Niagara Attraction Passes

Niagara Falls offers a variety of attraction passes that allow you to explore the area without breaking the bank. We opted for the Niagara Adventure Pass Plus, which included admission to seven attractions, access to four historical sites, and unlimited rides on the Incline Railway and the WEGO bus for three days.

1. Helicopter Tour Over Niagara

Seeing Niagara Falls from above is truly an unforgettable experience. The helicopter ride lasts about 12 minutes, soaring over the Niagara River and providing breathtaking views of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and the American Falls. It was the first time for my little ones to experience a helicopter, and while I was a bit nervous, they were surprisingly calm, happily wearing their headphones.

2. Niagara City Boat Tour

The Voyage to the Falls boat tour brings you up close to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls in just 20 minutes. True to its name, you’ll feel the mist from the falls. Although we had ponchos, it was a bit cumbersome while carrying the kids. If you prefer to stay dry, consider joining the Light-Mist tour after sunset.

3. Whirlpool Aero Cable Car

A ride on the Whirlpool Aero cable car is definitely a must-do, and it’s included in the Adventure Pass Plus. This cable car takes you across the Niagara River, offering spectacular views below. My kids loved peering down from their lofty perch.

4. Journey Behind the Falls

Venture 125 feet below the Table Rock Visitor Centre to walk through tunnels and see Niagara Falls from an entirely different perspective. I recommend saving your ponchos for when you exit so you can truly feel the refreshing spray from the cascading water.

5. Bird Kingdom

Just a five-minute drive from the falls, Bird Kingdom is a must-visit. It’s the largest indoor aviary where you can feed Lorikeets right from your hands. It was the first time my kids experienced the thrill of birds landing on them to enjoy some nectar.

6. Walking Along the Niagara River

The White Water Walk is an exciting journey along the base of Niagara Falls. You’ll have the chance to stroll along the riverbank and enjoy the thunderous sounds of the Whirlpool Rapids. This activity is also included in the Niagara Adventure Pass Plus.

7. Explore the Tunnel at the Niagara Parks Power Station

Take the glass elevator down and walk through the 115-year-old tunnel to reach a stunning viewing area. It’s highly recommended to visit at night to enjoy the beautiful sound and light show.

8. SkyWheel

If you’re looking to take in panoramic views of Niagara from above, the SkyWheel is the perfect choice. This Ferris wheel allows you to catch the fireworks show if you time it right.

9. Sweet Jesus Ice Cream

When you’re in Clifton Hill, don’t miss the chance to indulge in some ice cream at Sweet Jesus. The unique flavors here are sure to delight your little ones.

10. Fireworks at Niagara Falls

Enjoying the nightly fireworks show from mid-May to mid-October is an experience you simply can't miss. Whether you watch from your hotel room or the SkyWheel, this dazzling display is sure to amaze.
