Discover the Amazing Pool Experience at Hyatt Regency Hill Country

Growing up in Texas, the Gulf beaches always felt like a distant dream. This year, when I heard that the Hyatt Regency Hill Country in San Antonio had opened a man-made beach-like pool, I couldn't wait any longer and decided to visit during my family trip.

This 2.2-acre pool marks the completion of a $100 million renovation project at the resort, featuring many upgrades from rooms to dining options and new leisure experiences. Let me share my thoughts on this pool and some useful information for your upcoming visit.

Big Spring Lagoon Pool

Just in time for spring break, the Big Spring Lagoon pool is the perfect spot for a relaxing two-day getaway. The crystal-clear waters come with sandy areas reminiscent of the Bahamas, yet they still capture the unique charm of Texas Hill Country with breezes and windmills.

I took advantage of the sun loungers while others engaged in water activities like paddleboarding and kayaking. The atmosphere was lively, with children giggling as they built sandcastles and teens tossing a ball across the expansive grassy areas.

Recreation and Relaxation Activities

The pool area features a shaded section with a bar serving drinks and snacks. You can even place your order by phone, and staff will deliver it right to your chair. I enjoyed a prickly pear cocktail for $16 and a poke bowl with ahi tuna and fresh veggies for $18.

For those seeking a bit more privacy, the resort also offers cabana rentals starting at $375 per day, which include loungers, a mini-fridge, and a flat-screen TV. Although I was solo, I found it easy to find a spot whenever I headed to the pool, but many families took advantage of the private spaces.

A World of Fun and Entertainment

Beyond the Big Spring Lagoon, the resort boasts a massive 5-acre water park featuring a 950-foot lazy river, a two-story waterslide, and several warm pools. The lazy river even has a swim-up bar where you can sip on drinks without leaving your float.

The resort offers multiple pools for guests, including an adults-only pool where you can unwind in a more tranquil setting. During my stay, the resort organized various fun activities such as outdoor movie screenings, beach volleyball, and even goat yoga classes.

Staying at the Resort

I stayed in a spacious king room with a balcony, which was cozy and adorned with Texas-themed artwork. The balcony had cute seating perfect for relaxing and offered a view of the bustling courtyard below.

Room rates at Hyatt Regency Hill Country can vary widely depending on the season and availability. The lowest rate I found was about $350 per night. As a Category 5 resort in the World of Hyatt, you can redeem between 17,000 to 23,000 points for a stay. However, be aware that Hyatt will be changing its rewards policy next May.

Final Thoughts

I was truly impressed by the pool experience at Hyatt Regency Hill Country. This place clearly caters to families looking for fun and relaxation this summer. If you love the beach but can’t travel far, this is an excellent choice for your next vacation.
