Discovering YODmilk Shop: The Best Bagel Place in Malaysia

Getting to Know YODmilk Shop

When a close friend invited me to YODmilk Shop, I had no idea what to expect. Located on the bustling Jalan USJ 10/1B, where parking often feels like a competitive sport for those popping into pharmacies and shops, YODmilk Shop turned out to be a delightful surprise. Stepping inside felt like entering a little secret nook, a welcome escape from the outside noise. By the time I arrived around 1 PM, a long line had already formed, primarily consisting of office workers grabbing a quick lunch.

Clearly, this bagel shop, which specializes in coffee and fresh milk, has built a loyal customer base. Although it’s not very spacious, YODmilk Shop maintains a breezy atmosphere. I felt completely at ease while waiting for my order. The shop has a charming vibe reminiscent of a small Japanese café, adorned with vintage posters on the walls. There are only three tables for dine-in customers, but most patrons tend to take their food to go.

A Menu Full of Delicious Options

The menu at YODmilk Shop left me struggling to decide. They offer four tempting types of bagels: Charcoal (RM5.80), Cranberry (RM5.80), Cocoa (RM5.80), and Original (RM4.80). You can enjoy the classic bagel or customize it with various fillings. After some thought, I opted for the Original Bagel with Cilantro Cream Cheese. The total came to just RM9.60, which is quite reasonable.

When my dish arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bagel. The generous pieces of cilantro inside were larger than I had imagined, adding an exciting twist to the meal. Taking a bite, I was utterly satisfied. The crust was perfectly crispy, while the inside was dense yet soft, achieving an ideal balance that I rarely find in Kuala Lumpur. Usually, bagels here can be too hard or too soft, but the bagels at YODmilk Shop are spot on.

A Delightful Taste Experience

The cilantro cream cheese was a delightful discovery — creamier than I expected, with a rich flavor that was anything but overpowering. On its own, the cream cheese might seem a bit bland, but when paired with the robust cilantro? It turned into a symphony of flavors. Overall, the dish was refreshing, and the cilantro added a delightful crunch. (Notably, I finished the remaining bagel nearly three hours after returning home, and it was still as delicious as when I first received it.)

Next, I decided to try a sweet option — the Cranberry Bagel with Almond Honey Cream Cheese (RM11.60). As I picked it up, I couldn’t help but admire the vibrant cranberry pieces on top. However, I found it to be a bit firmer than the Original Bagel, possibly due to the cranberries or perhaps it was slightly overbaked. My first bite confirmed my suspicion — it was a bit chewier than I had hoped.

Overall Impressions

Nonetheless, the filling was truly fantastic. The almond honey cream cheese met all my expectations perfectly. The large almond pieces added a delightful crunch to each bite, while the sweetness of the honey blended wonderfully with the creamy texture. If I could, I would buy a whole jar of this filling to enjoy with everything — from bread and donuts to eating it straight from the spoon!

Overall, my experience at YODmilk Shop was above average. While the ratio of cream cheese to bagel might seem modest, each bite delivered a perfectly balanced flavor. Even though the Cranberry Bagel wasn’t exceptional, the Almond Honey Cream Cheese made up for it beautifully. And the Original Bagel with Cilantro Cream Cheese? It was truly perfection — I have no critiques. The friendly owner and quick service were also significant pluses. This is a great spot to enjoy some private time. I will definitely be back for more!
