Introduction to Wanton Fu
On a sudden rainy evening, my friend and I decided to visit Wanton Fu located at ARC 380 on Jalan Besar. The rain left me feeling chilly, but a steaming bowl of wanton mee quickly warmed my spirits. Since then, this place has become a regular haunt for me, and I felt compelled to share its charm with everyone.
Founded in 2018 by the husband-and-wife duo, Sean and Ani, Wanton Fu has moved inside the building, which led many to mistakenly believe it had closed down. Previously, they worked at a well-known wanton mee restaurant before venturing out to create their own brand.
Ingredients and Preparation Process
At Wanton Fu, every ingredient is made from fresh produce, with many dishes crafted entirely in-house. The dumplings and wantons are hand-wrapped, and the broth is simmered from pork bones, anchovies, and soybeans for at least six hours to develop a rich flavor. Even the char siew and roasted pork are prepared by their own hands.
Signature Dishes
When the Signature Wanton Fu Noodles (S$5.50) arrived, I couldn't resist adding some crispy pork lard and garlic. The thick noodles lacked the overpowering alkaline taste found in some places, making them a delight to eat. Each piece of pork lard added a savory richness that enhanced the dish.
I also tried the Old-School Wanton Noodles (S$5.50), featuring thinner noodles paired with a distinctive dark sauce. A major plus was the option to enhance the flavor with their homemade chili sauce, which was spicy yet incredibly delicious.

Tempting Side Dishes
While taking a break between dishes, I savored the homemade Ngoh Hiang (S$7) served with a sweet black sauce. This dish featured a unique blend of five spice powder and crunchy chestnut bits, creating an outstanding taste experience.
And we can't forget the Dumpling Soup (S$7). The dumplings were packed with shrimp and minced meat, perfectly complemented by the clear broth, delivering a light yet flavorful experience in every spoonful. The greens in the soup retained their crispness without being overcooked, making it just right.
Delicious Fried Treats
Sean also recommended the Fried Wantons with Truffle Mayo (S$6.50). This dish boasted a crispy shell and moist filling, while the truffle sauce added a gentle, not overpowering flavor.
