Explore Smokin’ Joe, a street food haven in Singapore serving up mouthwatering BBQ dishes that rival any restaurant. Don't miss out on their enticing offerings like Wagyu burgers and grilled lamb.
Introducing Smokin’ Joe
Smokin’ Joe is not your average street food stall; it brings a dining experience that rivals upscale restaurants. Nestled in the corner of Yishun Park Hawker Centre, this gem was founded by Chef Joseph Yeo in 2017. What sets Smokin’ Joe apart from other street food vendors is its premium meat selection, featuring Iberico pork, Wagyu beef, and succulent foie gras.
The menu at Smokin’ Joe is diverse and tantalizing, especially the grilled dishes cooked over an open flame. The aroma wafting through the air as each dish sizzles is simply irresistible.
A Tempting Menu at Smokin’ Joe
We kicked off our meal with the New Zealand Lamb Rack (S$32 for 2 pieces), served with two grilled lamb chops, creamy mashed potatoes, and a fresh salad. For those wanting more, a 3-piece option is available for S$47. Although I’m not usually a fan of lamb due to its strong flavor, Smokin’ Joe completely changed my mind with this dish. The lamb was incredibly tender and easy to slice, with just the right amount of flavor that was rich yet pleasant.
The lamb chops had a hint of fat that added a distinctive taste, sure to please any lamb lover. The accompanying mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy, perfectly complemented by a slightly salty gravy. The salad was fresh and delightful.
Iberico Pork Secreto
Next up was the Iberico Pork Secreto from Spain (S$22), paired with crispy fries, a salad, and sauce. To my surprise, Smokin’ Joe delivered an outstanding experience with this pork dish. The meat was easy to cut, tender, and juicy, with a lightly charred exterior that was soft.

The sweet sauce coating the meat enhanced its flavor even more. With my first bite, I was blown away by the deliciousness and unique taste, which was unlike any pork I had tried elsewhere. The fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned.
Special Wagyu Burger
Finally, we ordered the Double Wagyu Burger with Bacon and Egg (S$20). While it might seem pricey, the size of the burger made it clear why. This burger is massive, featuring thick slices of Wagyu beef and a perfectly fried egg that anyone would find hard to resist.
Each layer of meat was tender and sweet, combined with the runny egg for a perfect balance. The mayonnaise sauce added a rich umami flavor that took it to another level.
Homemade Onion Rings
To finish off our meal, we also ordered the Homemade Onion Rings (S$6). Unlike many other places, Smokin’ Joe makes their onion rings from scratch, resulting in a crispy, golden treat. However, the batter was a bit thicker than the onion inside, which might be overwhelming for some, but I absolutely loved it.
Conclusion
Smokin’ Joe is truly one of the most surprising street food experiences I’ve had. Each dish offers a taste that feels upscale, akin to dining in a restaurant. Although the prices may be slightly higher than other stalls, the quality ingredients and exceptional flavors make Smokin’ Joe a perfect choice for Western food lovers in Singapore. If you get the chance, be sure to try the Wagyu burger and their grilled specialties!
