Established 24 years ago, this eatery is run by Firdaus Bhai and his two sisters, who have taken over from their father. They continue to uphold the family tradition with their unique dishes. Beyond rojak, this place is also famous for its rich variety of porridge.

Rojak Bandung: A Distinct Flavor

The Rojak Bandung (SGD 6 for a small portion) features a delightful mix of rice noodles, water spinach, squid, tofu, bean sprouts, cucumber, and radish, all topped with crushed peanuts and a slice of lime. At first glance, it resembles jiu he eng cai—a popular squid salad in Chinese cuisine. However, the contrasting textures from the crunchiness of the bean sprouts, water spinach, radish, and peanuts create a truly enjoyable dining experience.

The tender squid adds a satisfying touch to my palate, while a gentle heat gradually builds up, enhancing the overall enjoyment. The addition of rice noodles is a unique highlight, absorbing the harmonious flavors beautifully.

Rojak Petis Power: A Novel Delight

Next, we tried the Rojak Petis Power (SGD 8). This dish is beautifully presented with an array of ingredients including cucumber, pineapple, youtiao (Chinese crullers), tofu, radish, century egg, and pickled ginger. The standout feature is the sprinkle of dried squid and a special rojak sauce that brings a rich and diverse flavor profile. Adding fresh lime enhances the dish’s brightness and appeal.

You can enjoy the youtiao crispy or let it soak up the flavorful sauce underneath. The combination of century egg and pickled ginger offers a refreshing twist to this rojak experience.

Bubur Kampong: A Flavorful Porridge

Finally, we sampled the Bubur Kampong (SGD 4), a bowl of thick porridge adorned with dried fish, peanuts, pickled vegetables, fried shallots, and half a salted egg. These toppings elevate the porridge with a medley of flavors. The rich and slightly tangy taste from the pickled vegetables, combined with the crunchiness of the dried fish and peanuts, creates an exciting eating experience.

The small bowl of sambal kicap on the side, although petite, is a game changer when added to the porridge, making it spicier and more tantalizing than ever.
