Review of Plaza Premium Lounge at Amman Airport: A Comfortable Oasis Between Flights

Overview of Plaza Premium Lounge Amman

During a birthday trip to the Golden Triangle region, I had the chance to relax at the Plaza Premium Lounge located in Queen Alia International Airport, Amman (AMM). Opened in 2023, this lounge may be smaller than some others, but it boasts an attractive design, a rich selection of food and drinks, and a dedicated staff.

Location of the Lounge

The Plaza Premium Lounge Amman is situated near the Royal Jordanian Lounge. If you're coming from Amman, you'll find the lounge centrally located in the airport, close to the duty-free shopping area. Clear signage will guide you to the lounge, which is hard to miss.

The lounge is one level above the main area and is easily accessible via an elevator. Although there is a check-in desk in the airport area, it was not operational during my visit.

Lounge Operating Hours

The Plaza Premium Lounge Amman operates 24/7, so you can drop in at any time of the day. However, like many airports, peak hours tend to be late at night and mid-morning.

Access Requirements

To enter the lounge, you can use a Priority Pass or certain credit cards that grant direct access. Alternatively, you can purchase a lounge ticket either on the Plaza Premium website or at the entrance. Entrance fees may vary depending on the time of day.

This lounge typically attracts passengers from airlines like Emirates, FlyDubai, and Saudia. Interestingly, during my visit, the Plaza Premium First Lounge was significantly busier than the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Amenities and Design

Covering approximately 475 square meters, the Plaza Premium Lounge can accommodate around 130 guests. While it may not be large, the lounge still provides ample space for comfort.

Upon entering, you'll notice seating arranged in rows alongside a sofa area. The central bar area features high seating, perfect for relaxation.

Culinary Offerings at the Lounge

The Plaza Premium Lounge Amman has a self-service buffet area with a variety of snacks and drinks. During breakfast hours, I noticed offerings like yogurt, fruits, and various pastries. For hot dishes, there were scrambled eggs, potatoes, and traditional items like manakish.

A self-service drink station is available with espresso coffee, soft drinks, juices, and tea. At the bar, you can also find beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages.

Other Notes

While there aren't many power outlets, there are enough to meet the charging needs of guests. I particularly liked the combination of marble and palm trees in the lounge's design, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

However, I was surprised by the behavior of some travelers, especially when they disregarded basic etiquette rules, such as putting their feet on the chairs or watching videos without headphones.

Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

If you plan to travel to Amman, don't forget to check visa requirements. Vietnamese citizens must obtain a visa prior to entering Jordan. Visa fees can range from $30 to $50, depending on the type of visa and duration of stay. The flight time from Vietnam (SGN/HAN) to Amman typically takes about 11-15 hours, depending on the airline and layover routes.

Airfare from Ho Chi Minh City to Amman generally ranges from 15-20 million VND, so it's advisable to book your tickets 1-3 months in advance for the best rates. The ideal time to visit Amman is during spring or autumn when the weather is pleasant and most beautiful.
