Discovering Dallas: A Perfect Weekend Amidst World Cup Excitement
Recently, I had the chance to visit Dallas, and I was truly impressed by the vibrant energy of the city. Beyond soccer, Dallas offers a plethora of exciting activities to explore, from lively bars to serene gardens. You definitely won't want to just pop in for a game and leave!
AT&T Stadium – The Heart of Dallas Soccer
AT&T Stadium, famously known as "Jerry's World," is home to the Dallas Cowboys and the site of many thrilling events, including nine matches for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. The atmosphere here is electric, and even if you don't have a ticket, you can join a stadium tour to explore both public areas and exclusive spots that are typically off-limits.
Perot Museum and Soccer Culture
The Perot Museum is also a must-visit, especially the exhibit "Soccer: More Than a Game." This engaging exhibition features interactive stations and large screens that delve into the sport's evolution and cultural significance. I loved how the museum integrates technology into the experience, using electronic wristbands to track each visitor's journey through the exhibits.
Art and Culture Awaits
If you’re looking for a break from sports, Dallas boasts numerous fascinating museums and attractions. In the Arts District, you’ll find the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Museum of Asian Art all within walking distance, making it easy to explore.
Culinary Delights
When it comes to food, I highly recommend La Stella Cucina, where you can enjoy exquisite Italian dishes in a chic setting. Each meal is beautifully presented, while Miriam Cocina offers a more laid-back atmosphere with delicious Mexican fare. If you get the chance, be sure to try their margaritas—they're unique and absolutely delicious!

Dallas Arboretum – A Green Oasis
Located just south of downtown, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is the perfect green space to unwind. I was captivated by the serene environment where you can pause to smell the flowers and breathe in the fresh air. The best time to visit is early in the morning, especially during March and September.
Deep Ellum – A Lively Neighborhood
Deep Ellum is an exciting neighborhood filled with bars, shops, and eateries. I stopped by a pizza place here and savored some truly delicious bites. Plus, you can explore unique shops selling everything from books to handcrafted goods—perfect for those who love to shop!
Don't Miss the Dallas Farmers Market
The Dallas Farmers Market is another spot you won’t want to miss. With numerous food stalls and indoor seating, it’s an ideal place to enjoy tasty dishes without the fuss of a fancy setting.
Getting Around Dallas
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is one of the largest airports in the U.S., located less than 20 miles from downtown. To navigate around Dallas, I recommend using rideshare services instead of driving yourself, as the city is quite expansive and traffic can be heavy during peak times.
Where to Stay in Dallas
If you’re looking for a place to rest, JW Marriott Dallas Arts District is a fantastic option, offering upscale service and proximity to restaurants, bars, and popular attractions.
