Are you unsure if the American Express Business Platinum Card is right for you? Let’s dive into its offers and value in this article!

Understanding the Value of the American Express Business Platinum Card

In 2025, the American Express Business Platinum Card received a fresh new look, accompanied by an annual fee of $895. Many people wonder: is this card worth the investment? I believe there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, as it largely depends on individual needs and spending habits.

Attractive Welcome Offer

One of the main reasons to consider the American Express Business Platinum Card is its enticing welcome offer. Currently, this offer is quite appealing, estimated to be worth thousands of dollars. This is indeed a strong incentive to apply for the card and use it for at least a year.

Rewards Points on Spending

While the American Express Business Platinum Card boasts a fantastic welcome offer and numerous benefits, I find its rewards points on spending to be somewhat average. This card provides:

  • 5 Membership Rewards points for hotel bookings and airfare through American Express Travel®.
  • 2 Membership Rewards points for spending at building material suppliers, electronics stores, and software services.
  • 1 point for other eligible transactions.

I’ve noticed that some other cards, like The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express or the Capital One Venture X Business, may be more attractive for everyday spending.

Credits to Offset the Annual Fee

The American Express Business Platinum Card offers various credits and benefits that can help offset the annual fee. I won’t cover everything here, but if utilized wisely, these credits can provide over $2,000 in value each year. There’s a new hotel credit of $600 annually, which significantly reduces the effective annual fee. Cardholders can receive $300 in the first half of the year and another $300 in the latter half.

Airport Lounge Access

Nowadays, having access to airport lounges is one of the most valuable benefits of premium cards. American Express is well-known for its lounge access perks, especially the Amex Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Club®. This makes the American Express Business Platinum Card stand out compared to cards from other issuers.

Additional Benefits

The American Express Business Platinum Card also offers many other perks, such as elite status with Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy, along with several other programs. One feature I particularly appreciate is the ability to use Rewards points to pay for flights with a 35% bonus when flying with your chosen airline.

Should You Keep This Card?

I decided to reopen this card due to the generous welcome offer and because I had previously held it. Over the past year, I’ve found the card’s value to be increasing, especially with the $600 annual hotel credit. This has really helped me keep my out-of-pocket expenses down.

Conclusion

The American Express Business Platinum Card is a premium card that offers numerous benefits and value. For me, it’s definitely worth having, not just for the welcome offer but also for the accompanying credits and perks. While I’m not sure I’ll keep this card forever, I’m currently satisfied with the value it provides.
