If you're planning a trip to Guilin, China, this vibrant city is a must-visit. I spent an entire week soaking in its breathtaking sights, and if I had the chance to return, I would follow this itinerary.
Day 1: Exploring Guilin City
If you're planning a trip to Guilin, China, this vibrant city is a must-visit. I spent an entire week soaking in its breathtaking sights, and if I had the chance to return, I would follow this itinerary.
My journey began with a flight to Guilin, which is well-connected to major cities via high-speed trains. The train rides from cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, or Shanghai take anywhere from a few hours to a day. Once I arrived at Guilin North Station, I hopped on the public bus number 22, which cost just 2 yuan, to reach the city center.
After checking into my hotel, I decided to explore the Seven Star Park, the largest park in Guilin. Here, you can wander along mystical walking paths, admire unique rock formations, and even discover a stunning cave.
Day 2: Longji Rice Terraces
On the second day, I set out to visit the Longji Rice Terraces, a famous site located about 2-3 hours' drive from the city. The terraced fields cascading down the hillsides create a picturesque landscape.
The scenery changes dramatically depending on the season. In spring, the flooded fields reflect the sky like a mirror. I visited in mid-October, when the terraces shimmered with the golden hues of autumn.

A tour bus picked me up from my hotel at 7 AM. On the way, we stopped at Hongyao Village, known for its well-preserved stilt houses. It’s also home to the Yao ethnic group, famous for their women with the longest hair in China.
Days 3-4: Yangshuo and Ruyi Peak
In Yangshuo, I took my time to enjoy the majestic natural beauty surrounding me. I rented a bike and rode around, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the stunning scenery.
Visiting Ruyi Peak offered a spectacular view. The climb to the top was a bit challenging, but the sight from above was absolutely rewarding.
Day 5: Sunrise at Xianggong Viewpoint and Xingping Village
On my final day, I woke up early to catch the sunrise at Xianggong Viewpoint. Standing there, I experienced the magical moment when the sun gradually broke through the clouds.
Afterward, I made my way to Xingping Village, an ancient village renowned for its beautiful scenery. The atmosphere here was tranquil, and I strolled around the village, savoring local delicacies.
Some Tips for Visiting Guilin
When traveling to Guilin, it's wise to carry cash, as not all places accept credit cards. I made sure to have some CNY on hand for easy spending. Don't forget to check the weather before your trip to pack appropriate clothing!
Lastly, remember that the best time to visit Guilin is from April to October, as the weather is pleasant and the scenery is simply stunning.
